Sleep like it matters.
Measurable progress toward circular manufacturing.
Our impact
In the mattress industry, sustainability is often defined by surface-level materials — organic fabrics and natural fibers. But the bigger challenge is what’s inside. Foam is difficult to recycle, and tens of millions of mattresses end up in landfills every year.
At Ikona, we take a different approach. As part of Ikano Industry — one of the world’s largest mattress manufacturers — we focus on circular innovation, responsible materials, and lower-impact production to make better mattresses using fewer resources.
- Industrialized chemical foam reprocessing since 2013
- 3.5 million mattresses recycled with retour matras
- 98% renewable electricity usage
- Less than 2% waste produced in foam reprocessing
- LEED Gold certified manufacturing
Sustainability built into everything we do.
A SYSTEM APPROACH TO RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS, CIRCULAR MANUFACTURING, AND LOWER-IMPACT PRODUCTION.
Real sustainability is about how products are made, how resources are used, and what happens at the end of a product's life. At Ikona, we focus on the full system — materials, manufacturing, circular recycling, and long-term impact.
A Circular System for Mattress Foam
Foam is one of the most difficult materials to recycle in the mattress industry. Traditionally it is mechanically down‑cycled into lower value products or sent to landfill, where it takes hundreds of years to decompose. Since 2013, Ikano Industry has pioneered chemical reprocessing that converts polyurethane foam back into its base ingredient.

RePoliol™ innovation
Two Streams. One Circular Solution.
RePoliol™ transforms foam waste from both manufacturing and end-of-life mattresses back into polyol — the core building block of new foam — reducing waste and extending material life.
Materials designed for performance and responsibility
True sustainability requires more than simply using natural materials. It requires choosing materials that balance durability, resource efficiency, and recyclability.
Materials used in Ikona products may include:
- RePoliol™ Foam
Circular reprocessed foam technology from internal post-industrial sources.
- BAMBOO
A naturally derived fiber chosen for its breathable structure, moisture-wicking performance, and cool-to-the-touch feel — delivering a softer, more refined sleep surface.
- Recycled Steel Coils
Steel is infinitely recyclable and widely recovered.
- Sustainable Performance Yarns
Advanced textile fibers from recycled sources engineered for durability and reduced resource consumption.
- REPES
Circular reprocessed fiber technology from internal post-industrial sources.

Manufacturing with lower environmental impact
Advanced facilities designed to reduce environmental impact.
Ikano Industry operates some of the most advanced mattress manufacturing facilities in the world. Our Mexico facility is LEED Gold v4 certified and operates with 98% renewable energy usage. Environmental performance is actively monitored across energy, water, waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and circularity indicators.

Supporting people and communities
Responsible manufacturing includes caring for employees and communities.
Our operations provide programs that support employee well-being, including on-site daycare, transportation, safe ergonomic workstations, and social facilities. We also support community initiatives in education, poverty relief, animal welfare, health programs, and regional reforestation.
Governance & Transparency
Strong governance and accountability across our global operations.
Ikano Industry maintains robust governance systems and transparent operational controls. We comply with IWAY standards for sustainability, environmental, social, and working conditions. Upcoming certifications include ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 27001 (Information Security), and ISO 35001 (Biorisk Management).
